Cannon Valley Composite Mountain Bike Team
We are a mountain bike racing team for girls and boys in grades 6-12 in Minnesota’s Cannon River Valley, with cyclists from Northfield, Faribault, Owatonna, and Webster. We welcome all student-athletes to participate, regardless of ability level.
We are part of the Minnesota High School Cycling League (MCA), a nonprofit organization building strong minds, bodies, and character, guided by the principals of inclusivity and equality. More than 2,600 student-athletes participate in the MCA, supported by 1,300 coaches!
This is a fall sport with practice starting in early August. If you are interested in joining the team, contact Coach Trembley at ttrembley@charter.net. You can also learn more by visiting our Facebook page, Instagram or the league’s MCA homepage.
Minnesota Youth Ski League
Northfield’s chapter of MyXC teaches the basics of cross-country skiing to ages 4-12 in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. This statewide program is volunteer-led and has taught thousands of kids how to ski with games and age-appropriate curriculum. Jessie Diggins herself first skied with MYSL. We meet Sunday afternoons in January and February at the Carleton Arboretum. If natural snow is not available, we have access to the snowmaking venues at Hyland Hills in Bloomington. Youth-sized rental equipment is available on a first-come first-served basis.
Registration begins in October with first priority given to families of volunteer leaders and coaches. Go to myxc.org to get on the mailing list for notification when registration opens.
Northfield Area Family YMCA
The Northfield YMCA offers year-round programming for all ages. Check the website for more information.
Northfield Girls Basketball Association
Registration is OPEN for Girls Traveling Basketball (grades 4-7) and Girls In-House Basketball Program (grades K-3). Please register by Oct. 1. Thanks!

Northfield Hockey Association
REGISTER TODAY! Registration will close Sept. 9 (except for our youngest skaters – the U6/Mini Mites – that registration will remain open until late October).
The Northfield Hockey Association offers in-house and traveling competitive teams for boys and girls ages 4-15. The season runs from October through February. Several new skater programs are offered, including a beginner Hockey Skating and Skills class, offered in collaboration with Northfield Skating School, and Try Hockey for Free, offered annually on a Saturday in November.
Online registration opens in August; see website for details.
In-house Program, for boys and girls ages 4-8, is designed to help skaters learn the basics of hockey through recreational team play. No experience is necessary.
Traveling Competitive Teams offer a more advanced level of play. Players will not only further develop their skating skills, but will also work on stick handling, positioning, and game strategy. Older beginners are welcome to start at this level, but starting hockey in conjunction with the NSS Hockey Skating and Skills class is strongly recommended for older beginners.
The Northfield Hockey Association provides a positive, competitive learning environment for all players, and teaches the virtues of athletics, such as hard work, discipline, teamwork and fun. New players at all ages are encouraged.
