Minnesota Youth Ski League – Nordic Ski

Northfield kids and volunteers will gather weekly for eight Sundays starting Jan. 5, 2025, for the tenth season of Northfield SkiSparks. This learn-to-ski program is run by local volunteers and supported by MyXC’s curriculum and structure. Your kids will learn under the same organization that taught Jessie Diggins to cross-country ski!

Kids ages 4-12 learn the basics through group games, exploring the trails of the Carleton Arboretum, and focusing on skill building. We can offer rental equipment to youth on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s a great way to be outside together as a family on a Sunday afternoon. Sessions are 3-4:30 p.m.

Registration will begin for children of volunteer coaches on Oct. 9. Tiered registration will continue through the month. All registration and payment goes through the statewide website at www.myxc.org. Parents who volunteer are given priority registration for their youth.

Northfield Area Family YMCA

Northfield Basketball Association – Girls

Registration is still open for Northfield Girls Basketball In-House Program (Grades K-3). Practices start in late October. Register here.

Northfield Skating School

Registration for Northfield Skating School’s fall session is open Aug. 2-Sept. 26 through Northfield Community Education. Fall classes for beginners, advanced athletes, and adults run on Sundays from Oct. 6 through Nov. 17.

Build skills and confidence for skating and for life with our professionally trained staff at our award-winning local skating program. Registration closes Sept. 26, or whenever classes fill. Reserve your spot early, as beginner classes do fill!

Northfield Soccer Club

Registration for the summer 2025 traveling soccer season is open now and closes Oct. 15! Summer traveling teams are available for boys and girls in the U10–U18 age groups.

New this year: Teams will have the opportunity to train together more intentionally during the off-season thanks to a fall try-out and more robust winter training program. Rosters will be formed following player evaluations in November, and those who participate in winter training will have dedicated team training time.

Players do not need to be registered for winter training to try out for a summer team. Learn more and register here.

Northfield Wrestling

Register for the FREE Northfield James Gang Wrestling clinics in October. Open to boys and girls. The clinics will be held at Bridgewater, Greenvale and Spring Creek Elementary gyms right after school until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21; Wednesday, Oct. 23; and Monday, Oct. 28.

The free clinics will conclude with an All-City Tournament at Northfield High School on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Registration begins at 6 p.m. The tournament starts at 6:30 p.m. and concludes around 8-9 p.m.
